According to the Wix website, it’s platform has 38+ million users. That is an impressive number. So I started my assumptions with this number assuming the following:
- 1 Wix user = 1 website deployed on a Wix platform.
- 38 million Wix customer websites with 20% using the HTML5 platform = 7.6 million customer websites on Wix HTML5 platform.
- 7.6 million HTML5 customer websites x 30% used for marketing and/or selling products or services = 2.3 million customer websites.
- Average of 100 visitors/month per customer website x 12 months x 30% get a white page= 360 visitors/year per customer website getting white page.
- 360 visitors/year per customer website x 2% order conversion rate x $75 average order value = $540/year of potentially lost revenue per customer website.
- $540 of potentially lost revenue per customer website x 2.3 million Wix HTML 5 customer websites = $1.2 billion of lost revenue to customers on WIX HTML5 platform.
Whether these numbers are off by a little or a lot is really irrelevant. What is relevant is the impact that a poor customer experience has downstream on the customers business, whether it loses them one dollar, one new customer, their brand reputation or the time to try to solve the problem.
